Description:

The French Horn has long been famous for both classic French cuisine and traditional English cooking. Exciting contemporary dishes have also been introduced: all are characterised by the freshest ingredients, many of them locally sourced. The Restaurant is under the direction of Michael Emmanuel, who trained in the kitchen of Paul Bocuse and then at the Moulin de Mougins under Roger Verge.

Michael is particularly proud of the wines sold at The French Horn.

A wine list is an emotive subject, as everyone knows a wine from a village or a grape variety from a country, which is cheaper richer lighter or softer. I do not claim therefore to have the best wine list in Europe, only that I have created a list that I can take pride in.

The wines are wines that I know, wines that I have grown up with. From Bollinger to Mateus, from Margaux to Moulin a vent. Made by friends like Paul Bouchard and Simon Hacket. Sold by friends like Mike Webb and Val Brown. My house wines are wines that I enjoy and hence recommend.

However every palate is different , every occasion is special and every moment needs a wine to enjoy. Some would argue that a particular dish needs a particular wine and I would not disagree, Yet to my mind the perfect wine is the one which you enjoy, and if that means you drink your Chardonnay with Beef and you sup your Shiraz with Salmon, who am I to contradict. What I do know is that, if that is what you like that is what I would suggest.
